Immunization Clinic

The Immunizations Clinic provides a full complement of vaccines for infants, children, and adults. The Immunization Clinic is open to all eligible active duty, TRICARE, DOD and GS beneficiaries.  The clinic is now located on the 3rd deck of USNH Okinawa, next to dental.

Our hours of operation are appointments only on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Fridays from 7:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. for all routine vaccinations. For walk-in services, we are available on Thursdays between 7:30 a.m. and 12 p.m.  For beneficiaries who have never received immunizations at USNHO or an MTF, please present vaccination records at the time of your service for safe and accurate administration of vaccines by our staff.

Influenza Vaccine Update

Flu season is upon us, and we encourage everyone to get vaccinated annually against influenza.  Active Duty and Guard/Reserve members are required to get the flu vaccine as well as Government Service, DOD contractors and students attending DOD schools.  To receive your flu vaccine, you may book an appointment by calling the Immunizations Clinic.  In addition, you may visit during walk-in hours on Thursday mornings.  For pediatric patients (less than 8 years of age) who have not received previous doses of a flu product, 2 doses are required with a minimum spacing of 28 days apart.  CDC guidance states that COVID-19 and Influenza vaccines may be received at the same time without adverse reaction.

COVID-19 Vaccine

The CDC recommends everyone 6 months and older get an updated COVID-19 vaccine to protect against the potentially serious outcomes of COVID-19 illness.

FDA-approved or authorized COVID-19 vaccines are currently available to all U.S. citizens and residents. Visit the CDC website for more information

Getting the COVID-19 Vaccine

All COVID-19 Vaccines are appointment only.  Appointments can be booked by calling the Immunizations Clinic front desk.  Please be sure to bring any previous COVID-19 vaccination cards or proof of vaccination if you have never received a COVID-19 vaccine at USNH Okinawa.  Please call the Immunizations Clinic if there are questions about available COVID vaccine products.

Active Duty Service Members, Active Duty Family Members, and Other Beneficiaries:

U.S. Naval Hospital Okinawa, Japan is requiring appointments for immunizations in order to protect the health and safety of our patients and staff.  This measure decreases the amount of people in small, enclosed waiting areas during the heightened Influenza/respiratory illness season.  Our Immunizations Clinic can accommodate same-day access if you are already at a scheduled Pediatric, Family Medicine, OB-GYN, and Internal Medicine appointment at the hospital.

To schedule an appointment, please call 646-WELL (option 1, option 4).  If you are using a cellular phone, dial 098-971-WELL (option 1, option 4).  When you get a flu vaccine from anywhere besides US Naval Hospital Okinawa (or one of its Branch Medical Clinics), follow your Service policy guidance for recording the vaccine in your shot record.  You'll need the following information:

  • The date the vaccine was given
  • The vaccine name or code
  • Manufacturer
  • Lot number
