Environmental Health

It is the mission of the U.S. Naval Hospital Okinawa (USNHO) Environmental Health Department to execute measures intended to mitigate, prepare for, and respond to health risks resulting from potential environmental exposures, including food and water-borne illnesses. The mission is accomplished through the identification, surveillance and control of disease and injuries to active duty service members and beneficiaries through the following:

  1. Perform water and ice testing, food service, habitability, and childcare inspections.
  2. Provide a variety of educational services to include: General Food Safety, Pest Management, Safe Drinking and Recreational Waters, and Food Safety Employee Training.

If you have mold issues, please contact facilities initially to remediate the issues before contacting the Industrial Hygiene or Environmental Health Departments.
